Mark Unruh Obituary

Mark Lamont Unruh

1971-2010

Mark died on March 19, 2010 with the same dignity, grace and strength that his beloved father showed when he passed away of cancer in 1991. Mark was 38 years old, when pancreatic cancer swiftly took his life in less than a month. Born December 17, 1971 in Eugene to Richard and Carole Unruh, he attended high school at Winston Churchill High School and in Huntington Beach, CA, before graduating from Job Corp. in Oregon. As a guitar player, Mark will be remembered for his love of music, aviation, and devotion to family.

Survivors include his sister, Julie Ireland and her husband Jack, and their children Trevor, Chiana, Amelia and Blake of Mooloolaba, Australia; and sister, Jodi Unruh Zartman and her husband Greg, and their children Kirstin, Marissa, and Jada of Eugene. A graveside service and reception will be held March 27th at Belcrest Memorial Park in Salem, OR at 11 a.m. Mark's legacy as a brilliant mind and gentle, kind spirit will live on in all of our hearts. Rest in peace sweet brother!

Jodi and Julie,
Thanks for sharing your beloved brother with the Sierra Oaks family. He was a strong and graceful man, even in his final hours. He touched us profoundly with his wit and kindness, and his legacy will remain long after he is gone.
May God grant you peace like a river.

Julie/Jodi-I am so sorry to hear of Mark's illness and death. My heart is breaking. I can still see his little-boy body with his big brown hair and sweet smile, skidding around in his socks and PJs at the Filmore house. Sending my love and prayers to you both. XXOOXX

I was very sad to read of Mark's passing. My son, Marc and Mark were both in Indian Guides played sports in the Eugene Sports programs for young people. I helped coach some of Marc's teams and he was a real sparkplug and go-getter.....he will be missed. Bill Moser, Eugene, OR
