EATON — James Ronald Stewart, 71, passed away suddenly on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021 at his residence. He was born Oct. 6, 1949 in Hamilton to the late James Eldon and Betty (Setser) Stewart.
Ron was a 1967 graduate of Eaton High School and graduated from The Ohio State University in 1971. He taught Vocational Agriculture at Fairlawn Schools in Shelby County and Eaton Schools in Preble County. Ron was then asked to join the Federal Land Bank/Farm Credit Association of Louisville (Eaton Office) where he served as vice president and later president. He was a Certified Agricultural Appraiser. Ron was the Agricultural Loan Officer at the Eaton National Bank; and later served in that same position at the Farmers' State Bank. Ron was a member of the American Angus Association and The Miami Valley Angus Association, a former member of the Eaton National Guard Unit, Preble County Rural Zoning Board, past president of the Dixon Israel Alumni Association and past president of the Rotary International in Eaton.
He is survived by his mother Betty Stewart of Eaton, OH; wife of 47 years, Sue (Montgomery) Stewart of Eaton, OH; sons J. Ryan Stewart of Marco Island, FL, and John R. Stewart (Jamie Gray) of Eaton OH; grandchildren Cody, Sam, Jack, and Sydnie Stewart; and numerous cousins and extended family. Ron loved his family and friends, Dixon Township, working with his grandchildren on 4-H projects, and Ohio State Football.
Visitation Thursday, Aug. 19 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 123 West Decatur Street, Eaton, OH with Rev. Roger Stine officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton. Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, Eaton is assisting with arrangements.
