Peter Perlotto Obituary

Peter Perlotto
08/19/2025
Peter Arthur Perlotto, June 24,1936 - August 19, 2025, Beloved Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa Retired Lineman
Peter Perlotto went safely home on August 19, 2025. He was born June 24, 1936, in Lakeville, CT, to the late Atillio and Marcella (Lorenzo) Perlotto. He was 89 years old.
As a child, Peter moved from Lakeville to Torrington, CT and attended the South School. He worked on the family farm in Lakeville, as a teenager, to help his parents and later attended Torrington High School. It was there that he was an avid basketball and baseball player and met his high school sweetheart, the late Kathleen (Zaher) Perlotto. He also enlisted in the Navy Reserves, where he served six and half years before being discharged. Soon after high school, he began employment as a lineman with Northeast Utilities, where he spent the next thirty five years traveling and working many hours to support his family prior to retiring at age 55. Before losing his wife unexpectedly at an early age, they had five children, Donna Jean (Ken) Lovallo, Robin Lynn (Joseph) Gawrych, Deirdre Ann (Robert) Cusati, and Thomas John (Donna) Perlotto. He was predeceased by his first child, Debra Ann. His dedication as a dad was enormous, including annual camping and ocean trips, bringing his daughters to dance lessons, attending weekly mass, and hunting with his son. Peter was the oldest of two brothers, George (Mary) Perlotto, and the late William M. (Lynn) Perlotto, with whom he shared a close bond. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with whom he adored. Peter was also predeceased by his second wife of 13 years, the late Wendy (McGhee) Perlotto. He continued to share a special bond with her son, Robert (McGhee) Boucher, and his partner, Matt. Peter enjoyed watching UCONN and spending time working on his home, whether it be landscaping or repairing lawn equipment. There wasn't a thing that he could not build or fix. He also kept in contact with close friends from Northeast Utilities, attending breakfast or sharing a cold one in his kitchen. Later, as Peter struggled with the challenges of Parkinson's Disease, visits with his beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought a smile to his face and he enjoyed going for rides and sharing childhood stories about a time when the simplest things were more valued and appreciated. He was a pillar of strength for the family and taught three generations after him great life lessons, including strong work ethic, putting others first, and the courage to handle obstacles as they arise. His guiding presence, sense of humor, and compassion for others will be greatly missed, but will be carried on with the same strength he instilled, to be "Perlotto Strong".
A special note of gratitude from his children to his compassionate caretakers, including Vee, Tina, and "Q" and Hartford Healthcare Hospice. Memorial contributions may be made to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research at https://give.michaeljfox.org or the American Cancer Society at https://donate.cancer.org .A memorial service will be held at the Center Congregational Church on Tuesday, August 26, at 11 a.m., with a private burial to follow. www.phalenfuneral.com

Yesterday

I first met Pete several years ago. My family owned Vi-Arms restaurant in Thomaston. Pete and his crew were there for lunch every day if they were working in the area. It was always a tossup to see if there would be more CL&P guys or SNET guys, but it was always one big happy get together. Pete was the one with the biggest laugh. I can tell you that on those cold, cold, bitter days. It wasn´t a hot chocolate that Pete was looking to warm up with, and I was just the one to hook him up. Lol We shared many laughs together back then. I have often thought of Pete over the years and wondered how he was doing.
Although I am so saddened to see that he has passed on, I was happy to know that he was able to enjoy his retirement for so many years with his family. Keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers.
