Bobbie Gee Obituary

Bobbie Lou Gee

ABILENE, TX

Bobbie Lou Gee went to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 24, 2017. A visitation will be held from 4:30PM to 6:00PM, Friday, September 29, 2017 The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. There will be a memorial service at 10:30AM on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Bobbie was a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, and friend. She had a zest for life and a love for people. Bobbie loved the arts and was very active in serving her community.

Bobbie was born on November 19, 1925, in Sweetwater, Texas to Nat and Jetty Anderson. She grew up in Abilene, graduated from Abilene High School and attended Texas Christian University. She married Louis Stark Gee in 1947. They were married for 52 years.

Bobbie loved Abilene and was often heard enthusiastically proclaiming that Abilene has an arts community on par with Dallas or New York. Her many years of involvement in the community brought her great joy. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She was involved with the Abilene Philharmonic Guild, the Abilene Woman's Club, the Abilene Civic Center, the Grace Museum, the Paramount Theater, and was a sustaining member of the Junior League. She chaired the Philharmonic Grecian Ball in 1967 and was honored by the Philharmonic Guild as the '2008 Grande Dame'. Bobbie enjoyed serving on boards such as that of Community Foundation of Abilene and Abilene Cultural Affairs Council. Serving her community through these organizations and others was one of the greatest pleasures of her life.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Gandy; and her husband, Bill, of Nacogdoches; her son, Bob Gee, and his wife, Mary, of Abilene; granddaughter, Leslie Wayne, and her husband Geoff; granddaughter, Allison Padon, and her husband Derek; granddaughter, Julie Geter, and her husband Greg; granddaughter, Laura Matthews, and her husband Jason; nine great-grandchildren; and her sister, Lady Jane Young.
