Paula Elkinton Obituary

Paula Elkinton

Weatherford, TX

Paula Jane Elkinton, 65, of Weatherford, TX gained her wings on Wednesday May 16th, 2018. She was born July 30th 1952, in Rule, Texas to Paul and Fay Little. She was married twice in her life to Jack Timms and Jim Elkinton.

Paula was a long time resident of central Texas with the occasional stop in Oklahoma throughout her life. For the most part she called the areas around Mason and Abilene, Texas home.

She had many loves in her life and personal enjoyments. She cherished her days outside working in the yard, gardening or feeding every bird within the state of Texas if she could. She never met an animal she didn't love to include skunks, deer, stray dogs and cats as well as more than one random raccoon living in her home.

A determined and hard working woman her true passion was nursing which allowed her to become an LVN. She worked as an ER, Pediatric and Senior Health Care Nurse throughout her life. Eventually she was hired to work as a nurse within the Veterans Hospital system where she commonly spoke about the trials and tribulations of what eventually became all of her heroes. She absolutely loved each and every VET she was blessed to take care of in their time of need.

Her greatest love was her family. She is survived by her two son and their wives, Robbie and Joy Timms of Brownwood and Willie and Donna Timms of Weatherford. She has four grandsons Adam, Elijah, Reid and Toby. As the years passed and her health failed she was still able to get out and not only be a part of her grandkids lives but their friends and extended family as well. She loved how the TLCA high school football team only knew her as "Grandam" as she would be heard with a cackle and "WOOF WOOF" every time a touchdown or critical play was made for the home team.

Paula was preceded in death by her mother and father as well as her brothers Darryl and Sam and her two sisters Vanna and Tammy.

She lived a full life and the last year has been difficult but rewarding as she met an amazing group of folks and care givers through the hospice organization and routinely spending her last few months impersonating "The Golden Girls" with Corky and Nanny. Every day was a blessing in our lives.

The services will be 10:00 AM on Saturday May 26, 2018, Girdner Funeral Home, 141 Elm St, Abilene, Tx. 76902.

Paula and her family have requested a small private funeral but want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of those who cared for her during her last few month

My daughter Kaylie and I cared for Ms. Paula when she lived in Carlsbad Tx. We had no idea about her passing until we tried contacting her but never got an answer. I finally looked her up and found her obituary. We are so sad. We are sorry for her. We loved her as she was our family. We will miss you dearly.
