Max Statham Obituary

Max Gale Statham was born October 31, 1949, his mother always said he was more of a trick than a treat. He was born to Lucille Stocks and Gale Statham in Rexburg Idaho. He was the oldest of 5 boys. As a kid, he enjoyed big family reunions, camping, hunting, fishing and huckleberry picking. He always enjoyed playing sports and causing mischief with his brothers and the neighborhood kids. Max loved muscle cars esp. his orange 1969 GTO Judge.

Max graduated from Madison High School in 1969. He then went to work for Nelson Ricks Creamery until he got his CDL and traveled out of town working construction for H&K Contractors. He worked for them for many years until he left to spend time with his wife and kids. He later found his passion in driving school bus. He was called Mr. Max by many of the students that rode his bus in Madison School District then for Jefferson County School District where he was still employed at his time of death.

Max met the love of his life Janet Wolfley after the flood. They were married February 17, 1978 and were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1997. Their love story produced 5 wonderful kids.

One of Max's greatest joys was decorating for Christmas which took weeks for him to set up for his grandkids and the little neighbor girl, who liked to tell him where to hang his lights.

He was known and loved by many and was willing to have a conversation with anyone, anywhere as he was blessed with the gift of GAB.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Kay and Gene and granddaughter Ava Grace.

He is survived by his wife Janet, sons Max (Shawnee) Statham of Afton, Wyoming, and Kade (Dori) Statham of Rexburg. Daughters Brandi Statham of Spokane Washington, Kaysi (William) Rogers of Spokane, Washington, and Dustee (Brandon) Rhiger of Rexburg, 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and brothers Boyd Statham of Pocatello and Terry Statham of St. Anthony.

A graveside service will be held Monday, August 21 at 11:00 a.m. Burton Cemetery. A viewing will be held at Flamm Funeral Home on Sunday, August 20 from 5:30p.m - 7:00 p.m. and on Monday, August 21 from 10:00a.m. - 10:45a.m.
