Michael Specchio Obituary

Michael Ronald Specchio

Aug. 27, 1942

Dec. 31, 2016

Michael Ronald Specchio, "Papa", was born on August 27, 1942 and passed away on December 31, 2016. Michael was born to Tanzy and Fred Specchio in Huntington, New York. Michael leaves behind his loving wife of 40 years, Patricia Specchio, his brother, Richard Specchio, 3 children: Kathryn Olguin, Carson Frazzini, and Lisa Wolfe. 5 grandchildren: Michelle Churchill, Molly Rugg, Patrick Rimbey, Ross and Blake Frazzini, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Michael attended McGeorge Law School and went on to work in the Washoe County Public Defender's office. He then went into private practice while also being a Juvenile Master for 15 years. He retired and was periodically filling in as a judge on the Spark's Justice Court.

Michael had a passion for cooking; he loved English bulldogs, playing bridge and golf, as well as collecting cars. He absolutely adored spending time with his wife and family. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Because of Michael's love for animals, we ask that in lieu of flowers, you make a donation to the SPCA in his name.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 10:00 am at Little Flower Catholic Church, Plumb and Kietzke.

I came across of picture of Mike and me this morning. It brought back a lot of wonderful memories. Mike was my mentor, my boss and most importantly my friend. He set my feet on a path in the law that has been a blessing to me and my family for nearly three decades. I will never forget Mike's positive influence for good in my life. Love you Mike!!

Michael I did not know of your passing from this world until just now-you were the best friend a young boy, turned a man, could ever have had. Well done Barrister! I love you Michael. I will never forget your humor, warmth, kindness and compassion for others. Your friend, Darrell Nott.

I met Michael in 1971 when he and I worked together in the Public Defender's Office in Reno.
Even then he had the level-headedness, the wisdom, and the sense of humor that propelled him into an honored career. He also had the wisdom to marry his beautiful wife Patti. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Patti and their family. Perhaps we'll have the privilege of seeing him again in another place of honor. Godspeed.

It was an absolute pleasure knowing Mike over the last 40 years, most recently having the privilege of working closely with him at the Sparks Justice Court. He brightened up the place on his pro-tem days, and will be greatly missed by all.

I met Mike 40 years ago when he was a Juvenile Master and I was a juvenile probation officer. After I graduated from law school and worked as a prosecutor in the juvenile court Mike would preside over my cases and not only serve as a judge but also as my mentor. My heart was broken when I learned of his passing. Brent Adams put it best, 'Mike would have died young at any age." Geno Drakulich

My colleague and friend Mike was one of a kind. He was a superb trial lawyer, a fair and wise judge, a capable administrator and a
a mentor to scores of lawyers, including me. And Mike was very, very funny. He would have died young at any age. I loved Mike and will miss him very much. My thoughts and prayers are with Patty and her family.

We first met Mike at the wedding of his grandaughter, Michelle, to our grandson, Aaron Churchill. We got to know Mike and Patti better at the family gatherings, usually centered around our shared great-granddaughter, Kirra. Mike was a kind and generous man, and a loving "Papa".
We wish we could have had more time together. He will truly be missed.

Mike took a chance on a young green secretary many years ago and taught me so much. He was such a down to earth, fair and kind man. It was lovely to see how his family has grown over these years - and a great grandpa! Amazing! My thoughts and prayers are with you Patti and your whole family. He will surely be missed by us all.

Michael made my time at the Public Defender's Office special. He was one-of-a-kind and I valued the camaraderie we had. He had some of the best "old school" stories and I never got tired of listening to them. Sending thoughts of peace to his family. I liked knowing you were around Michael.

All of us here at Dr. Karrasch's office will truly miss him. He was a ray of sunshine when he came in and always made our day better. Everytime we look at our waistlines we will remember him, he always brought us donuts.

I was a probation officer the whole time Mike was the juvenile master and he brought not only fairness but toughness to the courtroom. He also provided the needed levity when it deemed necessary. He was one helluva judge, friend and mentor!!
