Robert Hermesky Obituary
Sparks - Robert F. Hermesky (Ivan). October 1st, 1939 - November 6th, 2018.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Ivan Hermesky of Sparks, Nevada at the age of 79, while surrounded by his family.
Ivan was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania on October 1st, 1939. He moved to Reno in his early twenties. He joined the army in 1963 and was stationed in Alaska. When his service was complete, he came back to Reno where began his career in the trucking industry. In 1971 he met the love of his life, Barbara O'Brien. They were married in 1974 and went on to have two children, Steven and Rachel, and enjoyed more than 44 years of marriage together. He retired as a Teamster in 1995. In his free time, Ivan enjoyed hunting, bowling, golfing, and camping but his most favorite pastimes were spending time with his family and friends and building beautiful creations out of redwood, including the tables and swings that are present in the homes of many of the people he knew and loved.
Ivan is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Hermesky Sr. and Pauline Simpson. He is survived by his loving family, wife Barbara Hermesky, son Steven Hermesky (Trish), daughter Rachel Boehlke (Gary), grandchildren Carter Glaze, Megan Glaze, Jaxon Hermesky, and Jillian Hermesky all of Sparks, Nevada. Brother Bob Hermesky (Elise) of Manteca, California, sister Kathy Leonard (Craig) of Tolleson, Arizona, stepbrother John Leipold (June) of Sparks, Nevada.
Services will be held at Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 14 Veterans Way, Fernley, Nevada on Friday, November 30th at noon. A celebration of life will immediately follow the services at the home of his son, Steve. Please call 775.544.3611 for directions.
Ivan was simply unforgettable. He was truly one of a kind. We hope he's in heaven telling jokes and still making people laugh. Life will never be the same without you!

Great husband and father.....also a hell of a joke teller, I'll remember him forever, he was the type of guy that would do anything for you. So many memories of our families spending time together. Fishing derbies, block parties, and who can forget two kids from down the block beating on their door way too early Christmas morning? Ivan your one in a million, I'll drink a rum and coke for you. Cheers!
