Robert Webb Obituary

Robert Warren (Bob) Webb

July 10, 1925

January 2, 2015

Robert was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the second offspring of Raymond Lionel Webb and Helen Louise Johnson Webb. He moved with his parents to Nevada in 1941, attended Reno High School shortly, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy Seabees and served in the Mediterranean and Pacific areas.

Bob was a master carpenter and long-time member of Carpenters Union Local No. 971, and a proud member of the Wyandotte Indian Tribe of Oklahoma. He was a great sports fan, active in his youth in springboard diving, Little League baseball and Golden Gloves boxing. He played baseball for the VFW team in the early 50's, coached Little League in the 60's and taught apprentice carpentry. For many years he was very active in the Reno horseshoe pitching league winning a 1'st place state championship in 1971. He was a loyal fan of UNR football. His passion was fishing, treasuring the annual family camping/fishing trips to Desert Creek, NV.

Robert is survived by his wife of seventy years, Wanda, his children Pamela Hills (Ralph), Sue Gonyo (Tim), Peggy and Jim; grandchildren Jackie, Michele, Joe, and Nicole; great grandchildren Nolan, Brianna, Savanna, Casey, Ewan, and Fiona; and sister Norma Schaad.

No formal services will be held. A family memorial will be held later and Bob's ashes will be scattered at Desert Creek on the annual trip.

Wanda, Peggy, Sue and Pam, We were so sorry to see that your Dad passed away. Where have the years gone, seems like just yesterday we were your backyard neighbors and the girls sat for us watching Lori and Lynne. We are all fine and hope you are too. Time just goes way too fast. Love, Herb and Barbara Iler

Very sorry for your loss. Will never forget the times we jumped our fence to jump in the swimming pool and all the great memories at the baseball fields your dad was a great man and will surely be missed.

Peggy, Sue and Pam,
I don't know how many times I have thought about your family over the past 50 years. I wonder how many teenagers were welcomed to your home during the 60s. I always thought that it was so amazing that you had a big hole in the backyard to accommodate a ground level trampoline and how many of us spend countless hours bouncing. I have such fond, safe, innocent memories of you Webb girls and your family (your mom was especially welcoming,as well). My thoughts are with all. RIP, Mr. Webb!
