Charles Walpole Obituary

In Loving Memory of Charles Raymond Walpole III.
With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Charlie Walpole, a cherished husband, devoted father, and esteemed member of the community. Charlie passed away peacefully on July 26, 2023, leaving behind a lifetime of love and cherished memories.
Born in Rhode Island, Charlie was a resident of Narragansett for 35 years before retiring to Florida in 2012. Like many Rhode Islanders, he embraced the ocean which became a big part of his life after learning to SCUBA dive in 1978. Through the Narragansett Pier Dive Shop, which he and his wife ran for over 27 years, Charlie shared his love for diving and the ocean with everyone around him.
Charlie was a man of unwavering dedication and commitment, which he displayed not only in his professional life but also in his personal relationships. He met the love of his life, Suzette, while still a teenager and they embarked on a beautiful journey together, celebrating 56 years of marriage. Their bond was a testament to the enduring power of love and the strength of their connection.
In addition to being a loving husband, Charlie was a devoted father to his daughter, Christine Walpole McKee, son-in-law Tim McKee, and grandchild Duncan McKee. He took great pride in supporting and guiding them, instilling values of compassion, kindness, and determination. Charlie's wisdom and affection will forever resonate in their hearts.
An active member of both the Narragansett and Lecanto communities, Charlie was known for his generous nature and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need. He had a way of brightening the darkest days with his warm smile and infectious laughter. His genuine care and concern for others touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he encountered.
As we say our final goodbyes to Charles Raymond Walpole III, let us celebrate the beautiful legacy he leaves behind. His spirit of love, compassion, and adventure will forever remain in our hearts. May his soul find eternal peace as he sets out on his final voyage.
No memorial service is planned at this time but friends and family are encouraged to gather for chocolate or ice cream wherever they are and share stories that reflect the joy and happiness he brought into their lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to VITAS Hospice Care in Citrus County and the Nature Coast, as they were extremely helpful in managing Charlie's final few months.
May the memories of Charlie's warmth and love be a source of comfort during this difficult time. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will forever be treasured by all who were fortunate to know him.

I was just sitting around and began wondering about Charlie and Suzette. After a Google search, I've come to this place, greatly saddened. Charlie and I were friends since 1976, back when the dive shop was a laundromat. We occasionally took a long run together, starting at the Towers and out to Scarborough Beach and back. If he disagreed with some outlandish remark he would exclaim "Karl, please!" Charlie offered all his knowledge and opinions freely, with a good measure of humor. He was a good friend, and I will never forget him.
