William Simas Obituary

SIMAS, William A. "Bill", 79, of West Warwick, gently walked into the loving arms of our Lord on Sunday, August 12, 2018 after a long battle with Lewy Body Disease at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of 58 years to his dedicated and loving wife Lucille Y. (Russi) Simas.

Born in Fall River, MA on November 25, 1938, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Correia) Simas.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his three children; Lori Ann LeBeau and her husband Paul of Johnston, David S. Simas of Coventry and Susan L. Harris and her husband Steven of West Warwick and was predeceased by his son Michael W. Simas. He was the brother-in-law of Jeanne Dupuis, Claire Russi and Roland "Butch" Russi; grandfather of Ashley Jarosz and her husband Jared and Alexis LeBeau and great-grandfather of Sophia Jarosz.

Bill graduated from West Warwick Deering High School in 1957 and attended Johnson and Wales University for Banking & Management, and Rhode Island Junior College for Banking. He was a manager at Liberty Loan and retired as a mortgage consultant from Rhode Island Hospital Trust. Additionally, Bill retired from Pawtuxet Valley Bus Lines after 25 years and drove many NFL teams during his time there.

He was a communicant of SS. Peter & Paul Church where he served on the Financial Committee. He was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Past Grand Knight of the former Leo Council #71 and the Father Wallace Assembly, 4th Degree, ATU local #251 local secretary and treasurer. He served as past President of the West Warwick Independence Band. He and his wife loved to travel to Aruba and many other places.

The family would like to thank the Care New England Hospice team for their kind and dedicated service in our time of need and Dr. Denise Arcand. Bill was a gentle man who was loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
