Patsy Reynolds Obituary

Patsy Reynolds Patsy Sue Young Reynolds passed away on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, from complications related to cancer. She was born in Richfield to Beryl Ivy Washburn and Parley Parker Young Dec. 11, 1944. Parley was serving in World War II with the Navy and had recently been deployed before she was born. She was welcomed by a big sister, Elizabeth. Pat grew up in Monroe where she attended school, graduating from South Sevier High in 1963. She attended BYU, graduating with honors with a degree in elementary education. It was at BYU where Pat met her husband, Max J. Reynolds. They were married in the Manti temple Aug. 28, 1964. Upon graduation they moved to Midland, Michigan where they lived for three years while Max worked at Dow Chemical. Two sons were born while they lived there. In 1969 they moved back to Utah and bought a home in Roy where they welcomed four more sons to the family. Pat enjoyed serving as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer, in the PTA, and with the cub scouts. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Lakeview Camp where she made special friendships. She enjoyed creating hardanger embroidery, crochet, cross stitch gifts, and elaborate gingerbread houses at Christmastime. She loved to travel to new places and had visited all 50 states and 56 countries. When Max retired, they build a new cabin at the same site as a cabin her father had built originally in 1947. It has become a special place for the family to gather. In 2007 Pat and Max accepted a call to serve in the Ghana Accra Mission. They helped members and leaders strengthen their branches. Upon their return they were invited to be welfare missionaries, serving West Africa in supervising the drilling of clean water bore holes to place community wells. It was one of her greatest joys to see people have clean water, never again having to go back to dip buckets into dirty streams and rivers. Under their supervision, over 200 wells were completed in Nigeria and Ghana. Pat has a strong testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served throughout her life in the Relief Society, primary, and young women's programs. For seven years she was the Stake Relief Society President in the Roy Central Stake. She loved to attend the temple. Pat is survived by her husband, Max; her sister, Elizabeth; and six sons and their wives, Mark and Becky, Brian and Andrea, Doug and Taunie, Greg and Sally, David and Dahnelle, and Brad and Sarah; as well as 22 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Two of the grandchildren are currently serving missions for the church. On Oct. 28, there will be a viewing at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral at 10 a.m., held at the Lakeview ward building at 4900 South 2000 West in Roy. A small family graveside service will be held in Monroe City Cemetery in Monroe Utah at approximately 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to LDS Humanitarian Services to continue support to those that Pat lived her life to serve at philanthropies.churchofjesuschrist.org/humanitarian-services/.
