SCOTT NIEMEYER Obituary

In Loving Memory of SCOTT NIEMEYER DECEMBER 8, 1954 - JUNE 12, 2025 With his beloved family by his side, Scott Garey Niemeyer passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, at the age of 70. Born in Pierre, South Dakota, on December 8, 1954, Scott was the cherished son of Gene L. and Allen E. Niemeyer, who preceded him in death. His early years were shaped by travel across the country due to his father's career, eventually leading him to graduate from Richfield High School in 1973. Scott embraced life with a free spirit, beginning his young adult years in Grand Junction, Colorado, where he worked in the coal mines. He later returned to Utah, where fate reunited him with a fiery redhead, Ruth Rasmussen. The two were married on July 3, 1982, beginning a love story that spanned over four decades. A man of remarkable determination, Scott completed a two-year building trade program in just one year. His craftsmanship and attention to detail were evident in the six homes he flipped and the countless others he helped improve. He dedicated 34 years of service to the Utah Department of Transportation, all while raising a family and building a life full of joy, hard work, and unforgettable memories. Scott is survived by his loving wife Ruth; his son Chase (Marci); and his five adored grandchildren: Cailee, Abe, Ryker, Austin, and Paisley. He also leaves behind his siblings Paul (Cherry), John (Alice), and Mary (John); his unofficial son Jordan; and a large extended family of nieces and nephews, all of whom were touched by his boundless, selfless love. Known for his quick wit, infectious laughter, and legendary dirty jokes, Scott was the life of every party. He faced life's challengesincluding a courageous battle with prostate cancerwith grit, humor, and an unshakable spirit. Whether mixing the perfect cocktail, solving crossword puzzles, dominating FreeCell, or shouting out answers to Wheel of Fortune, Scott did it all with flair. He loved his pets like his own children and showed the same fierce loyalty and affection to his family and friends. Scott's legacy is one of kindness, honesty, hard work, and deep devotion. He taught us how to love fully, laugh loudly, and live without regret. Cheers to you, Scottyfor everything you were, for all you gave, and for the memories that will live on in our hearts forever, you will be deeply missed. We love you! The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Utah Cancer Specialists, with special thanks to Dr. Greg Litton and PA-C Louise Tobey, for the compassionate and dedicated care you provided to Scott over the years. A celebration of Scott's life was held on June 14th, surrounded by close family and friends in the serenity of their beautiful garden.
