Aulick Rucker Obituary
July 17, 1975 - March 29, 2021
Aulick Burke Rucker, 45, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021, from natural causes. Burke was a mortgage originator in the Nashville area.
Burke is survived by his devoted and devastated parents, Pam and Dale Rucker of Roanoke, Virginia, and his loving sister, Evans Rucker (Michelle Guedri) of Richmond, Virginia.
Burke attended North Cross School, the University of North Carolina/Greensboro and Radford University. Burke played traveling soccer for 10-12 years for the VBR Star Soccer Club (formerly Roanoke Stars) and thrived on being with his teammates. Soccer was a huge part of his life.
Those who knew and loved Burke would describe him as an extremely loyal and devoted friend with a quick wit, a genuine heart, a contagious bright smile, an engaging warm personality and he was always ready for a great conversation.
Burke loved all sports, but he was an expert on stats about his favorite teams. Those were the University of Georgia football, the University of North Carolina basketball, and the Green Bay Packers.
Burke lived in the perfect city because he adored music and was constantly sharing lyrics from Dave Mathews Band, Widespread Panic, Phish and John Prine. Burke was a gourmet cook constantly sharing and gathering recipes. He loved the beach and playing golf with his parents. He was compassionate about his family. Friends have described Burke as a gentleman with a wild side and a kind and gentle soul.
A private service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1 Mountain Avenue, Roanoke, VA 24016, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021. A reception allowing an opportunity to visit with the family will follow at noon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the VBR Star Soccer Club for children who cannot afford the club fees but love the game. Please go to www.VBRStar.com to donate to the Burke Rucker Memorial Scholarship Fund. Contributions also may be given to Boys Home of Virginia, 414 Boys Home Road, Covington, VA 24426 or to a charity of your choice.

I am so sad to hear about Burke. All the memories that people have shared sound just like my own personal experiences with Burke; funny, sweet, caring, loving, supportive, engaging, fun, smiling, laughing, joking...You could not help but smile as big as his smile- his energy and love was contagious. He always greeted me as if I was the most exciting person to see- but he was that way with everyone- but somehow it always made you feel particularly special. I am sad for the world to lose him, but I am even more sad for you Mr. and Mrs. Rucker to have lost a great son. My thoughts and prayers have been with you and will continue to be with you.
