May 6, 1950 - June 8, 2025
Dr. Billy K. Cannaday, Jr., 75, of Greensboro, NC, formerly of Roanoke, Va., transitioned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 8, 2025.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home & Crematory. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2025, at First Baptist Church - Gainsboro. Live Streaming will be available from the Hamlar-Curtis website. Click "View Live Streaming Here" at the top of the screen, then select "Facebook Live Stream - Roanoke". The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Williams Memorial Park. Condolences may be sent to www.hamlar-curtis.com or [email protected]. Private condolences may be addressed to his wife, Dr. Linda R. Wilson Cannaday, Greensboro, NC 27410.

Dr. Cannas was truly an amazing individual who brought so much positivity to Chesterfield County Public Schools. His energy levels were legendary and his total ability to treat everyone as a good friend commanded the respect of administrators, educators and students. He was an incredible supporter of the Success Program which provided so many students was with the tools to bring `success´ to their lives. Prayers to his family and friends - his legacy is beyond measure!

My deepest sympathy to the family of Dr. Cannaday. I was honored to work with Dr. Cannady in Chesterfield County Scools. He was an inspiration and a positive role model for the students. He will be deeply missed but not forgotten.
