Doris Osterhaus Obituary

Doris Joan Rimer Osterhaus

January 10, 1931 - January 30, 2025

Doris Joan Rimer Osterhaus, 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, January 30, 2025. She was born on January 10, 1931, to Clifton and Lillian Rupp. She was predeceased by her beloved parents; her sisters, Mildred, Lillian, and Margaret; as well as her brother, George. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, John Rimer; her second husband, Gordon Osterhaus; as well as her step great-grandchild, Seamus.

Doris dedicated her life to caring for others, a passion she pursued through her education at Indiana Hospital School of Nursing. She was a devoted member of Cave Spring United Methodist Church and an active participant in the Chapter AE of P.E.O. Sisterhood, achieving Golden Girl status as a 50+ year member. In P.E.O., she built lasting friendships and contributed to causes close to her heart.

She is survived by her children, Susan Lincks (Robin) and Bill Rimer (Kara); as well as her cherished grandchildren, Robert Lincks (Maigan), Kassidy Clark (Cort) and Katherine Rimer. Doris also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Riley and Jack Lincks.

Additionally, she is survived by eight stepchildren, Nancy Futterman (Joel), Sue Lynch (Jim), Joan Spencer, Mary Ferris (Steve), Dr. Gordon Osterhaus (Pam), Peter Osterhaus, David Osterhaus (Margaret), and Greg Osterhaus (Janie). She will be fondly remembered by her step-grandchildren, Euphanie and Demian Futterman, Dr. Anne Lynch-Jordan, Julie Digiusto, Terry and Harrison Spencer, Trevor, Taylor, Maddie, Chad and Kyle Osterhaus; and special niece, Barb Shipman.

Special thanks to the caring staff at Harmony Independent Living and 'Terri's Ladies" who provided compassionate and reliable care.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Oakey's South Chapel, with the family receiving guests one hour prior. A private interment will take place at a later date in Pennsylvania.
