Mary,
Words cannot express the feeling within my heart for you and your children. Cheryl, Evan and I continue to lift your family in prayer. You are all very dear to us and I am so happy that our Ambassador of Love (my mom) was able to be with you as Dwayne was laid to rest. May the Lord manifest in you during your weakest moments and that you continue to find joy in your life through it all.

We were sorry to hear of the loss of your dear husband and father. I wish we had the pleasure of knowing him. Knowing you and Dwayne Jr. reflects the wonderful family he was a part of. Whenever my son needed to come to your home he spoke very highly of your husband and father. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. If we can do anything including help with school please just call. Remember he will always be watching over you as your guardian angel.

Mary and Family. Words cannot begin to say how sorry I am for your loss. I can tell you were a very loving family just by working with you Mary. I always heard you say "I love you" before hanging up the phone after any telephone conversation that I witnessed. The love you shared will never be gone. I will say a prayer for you all and just keep in mind all of the great times you had together.

Maryhelen and family, we are so sad to learn of Dwayne's passing. He has been very important to us since his days in daycare and his giving of care and love to our daughter, Olivia. In this same manner he has loved his own family and I pray that now he will rest in peace and continue to watch over all of you.

Mary, know that Lloyd and I are with you in our hearts and minds in this time of rememberance for our cousin, Dwayne. Dwayne was among the younger of my cousins and I remember him well from the times he and his brother Rex spent with me and my sisters and brother in Rocky Mount. VA. Dwayne was always a very kind and gentle soul and we enjoyed his company a great deal. We felt a loss when he, Rexford Jr. and our Aunt Helen moved from Rocky Mount for their new home in Upstate New York but we followed news about him with great love and interest. I am filled with grief at his passing and yet have great Faith and Joy in knowing that his frail earthly body now is laid aside while his kind Spirit moves on in strength and power. He rests with our Lord and I find peace in that reality. We love you and thank you for being such a wonderful wife and partner to Dwayne and for being such a loving mother to your children. Know of our love and care for you and your family,. How wonder are they to have taken Dwayne into their hearts as one of their own. Love and Hugs, Brenda Edwards and Lloyd Schmeidler.

"Bear" and I went to school at Shaker HS, Class of 1980. We had a many classes together. I always will remember was the way he made me laugh! He always had something funny to add to any conversation and was friends with everyone. We were also on the track team together. He was my Bear and I was his Devilish Munchkin. To the Hopkins Family,
I went to High School with Dwayne. We wish he had come to the reunion last August. In high school, he was nicknamed "BEAR". He was one of the most nicest people. Always smiled, laughed and made you laugh no matter what. From what I understand, he continued being that way thru his life.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

To Mary, Mary Helen & "D", I am deeply sorry for your loss. Dwayne was a wonderful person who always treated people fairly and made sure no one was excluded or left out. Whenever I was depressed, he always encouraged me to smile and look on the bright side of life. So I say to you, do not be sad. Smile and know he is near. He will always be with you in memory and in spirit.

To the Hopkins family, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Dwayne's dad Mr. Rexford Hopkins, was my 7th grade teacher and principal at Truevine Elementary School in Franklin County Virginia. In later years when I returned there as a teacher, Mr. Hopkins was my wonderful and helpful administrator. It was during those years that I met Dwayne and Little Rex.
The family meant so much to me and I was sorry to hear about the loss of Dwayne. You have my deepest sympathy.
