Mildred Glass Obituary
December 4, 1922 - January 19, 2022
Mildred Augusta Whitlock Glass, of Salem, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at the age of 99. Mildred was born on December 4, 1922. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, William G. "Bill" Glass; her parents, Peter W. and Bessie J. Sheppard Whitlock; one sister, Madeline Turner; and 12 half-brothers and sisters.
Survivors include five children, Arline J. Chittum, Montvale, Va., Dorothy Woodzell, New Hope, Va., Sarah Bass, (Donald) Salem, Va., Bonnie Harris, Richmond, Ky., and Terry Glass (Rose) Roanoke, Va; ten grandchildren, David Harrison (Emma), Patricia Hyden (Doug), Robert Witt, Tony Witt, Valerie Watson (Gruver), Calvin Woodzell, Jonathan Harris (Donna), James Harris (Laura), Jennifer Gant, (Marvin), and Melissa Harris; two step grandsons, Luigi and Quirino Soriano. Also surviving are 25 great-grandchildren, 21 great great-grandchildren, and a special nephew, Leon (Sonny) Turner (Jenny).
Mildred served the Lord in many ways during her life including cooking at Grace Bible Camp, driving a truck and bus for VBS, helping Prophecy Today and the Rescue Mission with mailings, and financially supporting many missionaries. Above all she loved and served her husband and family. Her example taught us all to serve Jesus and others. Mildred was a retired Roanoke County school bus driver. After retirement she served many individuals as a loving caregiver.
We are so thankful to the Lord for providing Pam Dudding and Betty Scott who assisted us with excellent, loving care for mom for over two years until her passing. We are also thankful for the staff at The Oaks at Richfield.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Lotz Salem Chapel from 1 until 2 p.m. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. at Lotz Salem Chapel. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Gentle Shepherd Hospice or the church or charity of your choice.

Lost contact with Mildred for many years and am so very sorry to hear of her passing and to have missed the services. She was such a loving friend and caregiver to my step-mother, Pauline Taylor, and I can imagine their happy reunion.
