November 25, 1941 - August 15, 2025
Mrs. Norma Jean Wicks, 83, of Goodview, Va., passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2025. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was a fierce woman who loved the Lord who was very adamant about Joshua 1:9. "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
She was born in Colonial Heights on November 25, 1941, to the late Clifford Paul Nevetral Sr. and Evelyn Eleyet Nevetral. Also, preceding her in death are her brothers, Cliff Nevetral and Royce Nevetral; and sister, BilliDee Ray.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, Gene C. Wicks Sr.; sons, Gene "Clay" Wicks Jr., Michael Keith Wicks (Susan), and Thomas Paul Wicks (Kimberly); grandchildren, Mitchell Wicks (Allison), Jacob Wicks, Andrew Wicks (Paris), Marie Wicks, Joshua Wicks (Hailee), and Victoria Wicks (Hogan Whitmire, fiancé); 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Nevetral; sister, Carolyn Stokes; and many nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.
A service celebrating her beautiful memories will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Pastor Joey Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to her service. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
