Sampson (Sam) George Vincent, 52, of Salisbury, Md., died Friday, June 25, 2010 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Pittsville. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of Anna Mae Perdue Vincent of Salisbury and the late Carl Elmer Vincent, Sr. He was a life time member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, where he was church treasurer, member of the Wicomico Lodge 91 AF&AM, Salisbury Scottish Rite and York Rite, Salisbury Chapter Order of DeMolay, Crime Solvers Of The Eastern Shore, Wicomico County Bar Association, State of Maryland Bar Association, Maryland State Attorneys Association and a former member of the YMCA Board of Directors. He loved attending Shorebirds games and Fernando Guerrero fights, traveling with his wife and walking his dogs. Sam was a 1976 graduate of Wicomico High School, graduate of Salisbury University in 1979 and from the University of Maryland at Baltimore School of Law in 1983. Sam worked as a Circuit Court Law Clerk 1983-1985, was an Assistant State's Attorney 1985-1987, and has been serving as a Deputy State's Attorney in Wicomico County since 1987. Sam considered himself to be a career prosecutor and those he worked with in the state's attorney's office as his second family. He was honored to have received the Exile Achievement award for outstanding work in firearms and violent crime cases. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Jill Meredith Vincent; a brother, Carl E. Vincent, Jr. and wife, Tina, of Salisbury; three nieces, Katie Lyn Vincent and Margaret Mae Vincent, both of Salisbury and Kara M. Meador, of Roanoke, Va.; two nephews, Jake Thomas Vincent, of Salisbury and Alan M. Meador, of Roanoke, Va.; father and mother-in-law, David M. and Martha W. Meredith, of Roanoke, Va.; a brother-in-law, William A. Meador, of Charlotte, N.C.; sister-in-law, Sue Vincent, of Salisbury; many cousins, aunts and uncles; and his beloved dogs, Susie, Katie, Jimmy. He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jay P. Meredith and a sister-in-law, Jackie M. Meador. A Masonic Service and a Celebration of His Life will be held Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 112 High Street in Salisbury. There will be a visitation on Friday, July 2, 2010 at church from 2 to 4 p.m. and also from 5 to 8 p.m. Rev. William Kniceley will officiate.
