Shirley Mae Slayton Tatum

January 22, 1936 - August 19, 2025

Shirley Mae Slayton Tatum, age 89 of Wirtz passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025. She was born January 22, 1936, a daughter of the late Woodsie and Lelia Hall Slayton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lee Tatum; and brothers, Bobbie S. Slayton and Roger Slayton.

Surviving are her son, Lynn (Brenda) Tatum and daughter, Wanda Tatum Cundiff; grandchildren, Ashley (Blake) Rader and Jeremy Cundiff; great-granddaughter, Lily Rader; sister, Leoney Snyder; step-sisters, Missy, Donna and Jeanette; special nephew, Darren Snyder; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Shirley was retired from Cooper Wood Products with 25 years of service. She was a dedicated member of Burnt Chimney United Methodist church and served as choir director for many years. The family would like to thank Spring Tree Health and Rehab for all their care and concern.

A graveside service will be held at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
