James Runyon Obituary
Jim was born on April 9, 1964, in Olney, IL as one of two children born to Everett L. and Phyllis (Allison) Runyon. After graduation from high school, Jim decided to further his education by attending Olney Community College and Eastern Illinois University where he majored in Political Science and History.
After working for the Illinois Department of Corrections for seventeen years, Jim retired and decided to go into politics. He started as a Campaign volunteer for Chris Miller and Mary Miller (IL15th). He was then named as the District Director of the IL15th Congressional District. He served as Chairman and Precinct Committeeman for the Crawford County Republican Party for several years. Among his memberships are the Noble First Christian Church, Noble, IL and Masonic Lodge #140 AF & AM, Olney, IL.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Chase and Kaylee Runyon, Charleston, IL, Hunter Runyon and McKenzie Nicholson, Champaign, IL; two daughters, Maci Runyon, Sullivan, IN and Ryndi Runyon, Sullivan, IL; two grandchildren, Kypher Napier and Olivia Runyon along with a sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Dennis Hancock, Olney, IL and a very close friend and caregiver, Patricia "Patty" Lycan, Robinson, IL. Other survivors include two nephews and one niece, Curtis and Lindsay Hancock, Noble, IL, Clayton and Tosha Hancock, Noble, IL, Kylie and Greg Peavler, Olney, IL.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents.
The funeral service will be Wednesday July 12, 2023, at 10:30 AM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL with Pastor Tim Bursott officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday July 11, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL. Masonic Rites will be accorded Tuesday July 11, 2023, at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL.
Memorial donations may be made to the ALS foundation with envelopes available at the funeral home, or online through the website.
