Phyllis Hall Obituary

Jun. 6, 1936 - Irving, Apr. 18, 2023 Texas - Phyllis Joan Hall, 87, of Irving, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. She was born June 6, 1936 in Oblong, IL to the late Annis Marie Murphy and Joe Brown. She was raised in Oblong, Il in the home of her maternal grandparents, John Sherman Murphy and Clara Alice Hodge Murphy.

She was preceded in death by her husband DAvid B. Hall, mother Annis, and her sister, Norma Jean Richards.

She is survived by a son Lisle Gwynne II and wife Janice; daughter Suzan Sprinkle and husband Phil; granddaughter Dr. Caitlin Miles, grandson David Miles and wife Jacque, and son Philip Hall, who devoted the last many years making sure she was safe, healthy, and well-cared for. Phyllis is also survived by nephew P.D. Highsmith of Oblong, IL and several rescue cats.

Phyllis attended college to be a nurse on a full scholarship. In November or 1962, Phyllis took a job at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX as a nurse in the E.R. On November 22, 1963, she was working and happened to be in the E.R. where President Kennedy was brought to and pronounced dead after being shot. She was the last surviving member of the medical team that was present that day. She is the oldest member of the Oblong First Baptist Church and was a former member of the Robinson Moose.

Graveside services were held at 2PM Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving, TX with Rev. Steve Nutter officiating.
