Doris Viands Obituary

Doris Ann Mason Viands, 77, formerly of Shenandoah, Va, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025, at Bridgewater Assisted Living in Bridgewater, Va. She was born on March 22, 1947 in Charlottesville, Va and was the daughter of the late Clarence Taylor and Virginia May Clarke Mason.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Viands is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Garland Viands, Sr.;step-sons, Floyd Garland Viands, Jr., Gary L. Viands; and a brother, John C. Mason.
Doris was a devoted follower of Christ and member of the Bethel United Church of Christ in Elkton Va. She was a member of the Rocking Red Hatters and sang with the Broadus Memorial Baptist Church Senior Singers, the Bridgewater Retirement Village Choir and the Bridgewater Church of the Brethren Choir. Doris graduated from Lane High School in Charlottesville and Madison College. She received her Degree in Pharmacology from the Medical College of Virginia in 1971. She was a licensed pharmacist for Rite Aid, CVS, and numerous other Pharmacies in the Area for many years. Doris also was a member of numerous professional pharmaceutical organizations. Doris was a devoted wife, step-mother, step-grandmother, and sister who will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Ms. Viands is survived by stepsons, Randy E. Viands, Kevin Mitchell Viands; stepdaughters, Vickie S Viands Breeden, Karen Melissa Steeley, Onie Drucilla Stoner; brother, Karl Eugene Mason and wife, Joyce; sister, DeAnna Eloise Mason Steward and husband, Larry; 12 step-grandchildren; and numerous great step-children, nieces and nephews; special friend, Susan Pleasant.
The family will receive friends 1 to 2 p.m., Friday, March 21, 2025, at the Bethel United Church of Christ near Elkton.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday, March 21, 2025, at Bethel United Church of Christ in Elkton, with Pastor Dan Bassett officiating. Burial will follow after the service at Elk Run Cemetery.

Doris and l were good friends in high school and lost touch until later after her beloved husband, who she called "Peachy Man" because,as she said, he was such a peach of of s man. She loved him so much and was so grateful for their time together. We will miss you, dear Doris .
