Phyllis A. Hopping

Phyllis A. Hopping, age 79, of Utica, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, after a long battle with emphysema, at Wynn Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born, in Utica, on October 30, 1944, a daughter of the late Edward and Helen Lambert Suiter and was educated in local schools. On August 21, 1993, she was married to Albert Hopping, a blessed union of 11 years until his untimely passing in 2004.

Phyllis was employed, for several years, at Hotel Utica and subsequently, became employed with the M & M Cleaners Co., until her retirement.

She was a loving mother and grandmother whose life centered around her family. They will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

Surviving is her only child, her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Erika Yacobucci, of New Hartford; four beloved granddaughters, Gabriella, Gianna, Santina and Angelina Yacobucci; two sisters, Karen Donlyuk and Shirley Suiter; her best friend, Emily Meyers; and several extended family members.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Beverly and Linda; and two brothers, Donnie and Jimmy.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27, from 4-6 p.m. at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc., 1122 Culver Ave., Utica. Funeral Service Prayers will be at the conclusion of visitation at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Private interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
