Salvatore SanFilippo Obituary

Salvatore Joseph "Sal" SanFilippo, age 80, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024 while surrounded by his family at the Winchester Medical Center after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Born in Utica on May 18, 1944, Salvatore was the son of the late Peter and Grace M. (Granato) SanFilippo. He attended Whitesboro High School and went on to become the Owner and Operator of MAD Installers specializing in residential and commercial flooring. He was joined in marriage with the former Christina Brown on June 3, 1967. Out of that union came the blessing of their 4 sons; each of them in their own unique way became Sal's best friend. He taught all of his boys his wonderful work ethic.

Sal was a car enthusiast like no other, and his personality was much like a spark plug! He was an avid NASCAR fan, always driving fast and to the left. He diligently followed the Buffalo Bills. Sal's humor, a trait passed on to his sons, got them all through many of life's adversities. He was a class act, generous to a fault, and will be sorely missed. He was one of a kind and loved by all.

Sal is survived by his sons and their loves, Michael Angelo SanFilippo and fiancée Loretta Meola, Anthony Joseph "A.J." and Amy SanFilippo (Loretta and Amy were like daughters to him), Dominick John and Tina SanFilippo, Vyncenzo Gianni Peter SanFilippo, and their mother Christina SanFilippo. He was Papa to his cherished grandchildren, Anthony and Alyssa Meola, Frank Meola, Shelby Grace and Dr. Mark Nelson, Brady Michael and Daniella SanFilippo, Dakota and Leanne SanFilippo, Chaz SanFilippo, Tayla SanFilippo, and Ryleigh and Graycin SanFilippo. He will be missed by his great-grandchildren, William Brooks "Will", Luke Anthony Nelson, and Giada Rosa Meola; his loving partner Shirley Allison and her family; his sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Paul Matter; nieces and nephews Dr. Deborah Murray and husband Steven, Kimberly Heslin, Paula and Martin Mahoney; great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He was blessed with an unbelievable amount of loving friends too numerous to mention.

And in Sal's words, "Don't take any wooden nickels!"

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 1-4pm, followed by a Final Blessing at 4:00 at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.

By family request, please omit floral offerings.
