Scott Michael Leichty

1962 - 2023

Scott Michael Leichty, age 61, of Oscoda, MI, and raised in Boonville, NY, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023, in a hunting blind in the woods surrounded by loved ones - the way he'd always said he wanted to go.

Scott was born on June 26, 1962 in Constableville, NY, to Sandra (Charles) Matthews and the late Samuel Liechty. After high school, he served in the United States Air Force as a Strategic Aircraft Maintenance Technician, and honorably separated after 11 years and eight months of service.

Following his military career, he remained in Oscoda and directly transferred his experience to cargo aircraft maintenance, primarily working for Kalitta Air in all the years that followed. Scott was a man that occupied all of his free time and enjoyed hunting, wood working, NASCAR, drag racing, and tinkering with just about anything he could get his hands on.

Scott's true passion, however, was for his family, and he would do absolutely anything for the ones that he cared for. Scott was a loving husband to his wife, Kelley Liechty (Matthews), happily together for over 20 years; father to Scott Jr, (Alyssa), Steven (Julia), Drew (Megan), Nicole (Daniel), lan (Nicole), and Melissa; Papa to Samuel, Beau, Dale, Hank, Dayne, Madden, Max, Gage, Harper, Harlynn, and Archer; brother to Samuel (Rhonda) and Seina (Greg); uncle to Megan, Justin, and Sara.

The family welcomed friends beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda, MI, with services immediately following at 2 p.m.
