TALCOTTVILLE - William ("Bill") Sullivan, 72, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Wynn Hospital in Utica, New York, after a brief illness.
Bill was born on September 28, 1951, the son of Patrick J. Sullivan and Eleanor (Genter) Sullivan. He was a graduate of Adirondack Central School. After graduating, he joined the United States Army, where he spent four years before being honorably discharged. For many years, he was employed by Lyons Falls Pulp and Paper Mill before the mill closed. Bill was a member of the Constableville Volunteer Fire Department, and participated in countless parades and could be found manning the clam stand or beer tent at the Field Days.
Bill was united in marriage with Billie Jo Cihocki on August 21, 1987. Together, they owned and operated B.J.'s Country Tavern on Main Street in Constableville, New York, for several years, where they gained a large community of friends, they called family. In 1993, Bill and Billie Jo moved to Thebes, Illinois. While there, Bill worked at Alliance Water Resources of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, as an Operator, before retiring after 25 years.
Bill was an avid hunter and a founding member of Nickle-Dime Hunting Camp in Highmarket, New York. Bill spent many years with family and friends there, drinking beer, playing cards and telling tall tales.
Bill enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes, some of which were not for the faint of heart. He once wrote, "Everyone should have a hobby. Mine is cooking weird stuff and altering recipes (maybe that's why people ask what's in my food before they eat). PS, I haven't made anyone sick YET, Love my stuff!"
Bill never met a stranger and leaves behind a host of friends. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the many friends and family members that regularly stopped by Bill's house to visit with him.
Bill is survived by one son, Allen (Lori) Brown III of Constableville, New York, and four daughters, Diana (Chris) Bailey of Lake Worth, Florida; Jennifer (Rob Williams) Brown of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina; Veronica Cihocki (Rob Pendegraft) of Melbourne Beach, Florida, and Crystal (Brad) Sevier of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. Bill is also survived by seven grandchildren, Marissa, Meghan, William, Kelsey Jo, Sarah, Jessica and Brittany, and by 10 great-grandchildren.
Bill is also survived by his two brothers, James and Richard (Donna) Sullivan, and four sisters, Donna Wilson, Joan Linck (Tim), Patricia Robson and Susan Spink and their children. Bill was blessed with many nieces, nephews and cousins that were an important part of his life.
Bill was predeceased in death by his parents; wife, Billie Jo; sister, Sharon Kessler; brother-in-law, George Spink Sr., brother-in-law Wayne Robson, brother-in-law Gerald Linck, brother-in-law Pete Sweeney, and a sister-in-law, Jeannine Sullivan.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life luncheon on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Constableville Fire Department, located at 3000 Main Street, Constableville, NY 13325. Food will be provided at the event; donations of food can be delivered at 10 a.m.
