Doris Rippy Obituary

DORIS MAE RIPPY, 87 ROCKFORD - Doris Mae Rippy, 87, of Rockford died at 5:54 p.m. Wed-nesday, Jan. 21, 2009, in Rockford. Born May 1, 1921, in Lanark, daughter of Albert and Lillian Marie Knorr Martin. Married to Robert M. Rippy in Lanark on Feb. 21, 1942; he died in 1999. She owned and operated the Artiste Beauty Salon in Rockford for many years. She and Robert were very active in the Model T Club in Rockford, and also a former member of the Sweet Adelines, Scarlet Fedoras Red Hat Society and the Moose Club. Current member of Christ United Methodist Church. Survivors include sister, Ruth E. Klontz of Rockford; brother, Wayne (Cindy) Martin of Mt. Dora, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and her local family caregivers, Sue Calcione, Sandy Welte and Marty Spaulding. Predeceased by brothers, Kenneth "Rex" Martin and Donald Martin; and sister, Ardith Avey. Special thanks also to her caregivers at Alpine Fireside Nursing Center. Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, in Christ United Methodist Church, 4509 Highcrest Road, Rockford. The Rev. Richard Carl Wisdom will officiate. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, in Julian-Poorman-Welte Funeral Home, also from 10 a.m. to service time Tuesday in the church. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park in Rockford.
