John R. Coduto 1961—2017
John R. Coduto, 56, of Poplar Grove, IL passed away peacefully Monday, September 18, 2017, at the U.W. Hospital, Madison, with his loving family present, after a short battle with cancer. John was born May 1, 1961, in Chicago, IL; the son of Richard and Audrey. He graduated from North Boone High School and married Pamela on November 28, 1981, at St. James in Belvidere. John served the citizens of Belvidere for 30 years as an officer with the Belvidere Police Department where he was a S.W.A.T. team leader. He enjoyed hunting, fishing as well as being a firearms instructor at the Maritime Institute in Baltimore, MD. He was also a member of the Tri-City Shooting League. John loved his family, family dinners and being a Papa. John is loved and will be missed by his wife, Pamela; daughter, Valerie; grandson, Nicholas; siblings, Lisa, Anthony (Lynn), Deborah, Richard (Rebecca); nieces and nephews, Joshua, Taylor, Riley, Sophia; and his Belvidere Police Department family. John is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017, in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, IL. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2017, in St. James Catholic Church, 402 Church Street, Belvidere, IL. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given in care of John's family for a memorial to be established. To light a candle or to share a memory, please visit www.Andersonfcs.com

I am so sorry to hear that John is gone. He was my best friend growing up in Roselle. He introduced me to fishing, baseball, shooting pellet guns and general outdoor mischief. I'll always have wonderful memories of John.

John will forever be in everyone's heart. He will be greatly missed, shared so many fun times. He always called me Shawna from the time we met many many moons ago. He always was so nice with that cute little chuckle and always had a smile on his face to brighten Everybody's Day. Pam n Valerie he adored you both, the holes in heaven, that rains is John always looking and watching upon you. Always watch for that cardinal, that is the sign John will always be near.
