Mildred Bennett Obituary

MILDRED L. 'MILLIE' BENNETT, 86 BYRON - Mildred L. "Millie" Bennett, 86, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at her son's home near Chana, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 28, 1926, in Polo; the daughter of Virgil D. and Gladys L. (Bauman) Shrock. Millie graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1944. She married Paul Leo Bennett on May 20, 1944, at Paynes Point Lutheran Church near Oregon. She worked for 10 years at Wood Brother's in Oregon. Millie attended the Congregational Christian Church in Stillman Valley. She enjoyed playing cards with her Byron friends, cooking, and spending time with her family. Survived by children, Larry (Joyce) Bennett of Chana, Lyle (Corinne) Bennett of Caledonia, Jean (Henry) Johnson of Mascoutah and Cindy Bennett of Elmwood Park; daughter-in-law, Sara Bennett of Machesney Park; sisters, Ruth Smith of Pennsylvania and Delores (Gerry) Yaeger of Citrus Heights, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband, Paul; sons, John and Steven; grandsons, Richard, Matthew and Mark; brother, Virgil, Jr.; and sisters, Irma and Carol Shrock. Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 136 W. Roosevelt Road, Stillman Valley, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to time of service; the Rev. Chris Brauns, pastor of Congregational Christian Church will officiate. Burial in Lighthouse Cemetery near Oregon. A memorial fund is established for the Serenity Hospice and Home. Sorry to hear of your loss. My mom was neighbors with Millie in Byron at the apts. Millie was such a nice lady and always had a smile when I saw her. Prayers to her family.

Mildred was such a nice friendly lady. i was in John's class and i can remember her clear back to the kindergarten days. As we ourselves head into our mid to late sixties,so many our moms and dads are leaving us, or have already left. Cherish the memories.
