Robert "Bob" Earl Merrick 1933—2017
Robert "Bob" Earl Merrick, 84, of Rockton, Illinois died Thursday, June 8, 2017. following a struggle with Lewy Body Dementia at Pinecrest Community Center, Mt. Morris, Illinois. Bob was born March 14, 1933, in Janesville, Wisconsin. He graduated from Janesville High School, Class of 1952. Bob and Joann Cahill were married on September 28, 1954. He served in the U. S. Army 1953-1955. He was employed by Gunite Corporation for 32 years. Bob is survived by his wife, Joann; children, Nancy (Steve) Anderson, Steve (Lori) Merrick, Liz (Steve) Beerli, Patty Merrick, Bob (Stacy) Merrick, Tom (Heather) Merrick; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Julie, Brad, Tracy, Daniel, Patricia, Kaitlin, Sam, and Dominick; three great-grandchildren, Liam, Declan, Wesley and a fourth due in October, 2017. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Earl Merrick and Isabel Merrick. The family expresses their gratitude and love to the entire staff at Pinecrest Terrace for the exceptional care of Bob, and to Sue Sklar at the Alzheimer's Association.
Services will be private. Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 1111 S. Alpine Road, #307, Rockford, IL 61108.
