Samuel Goodloe Obituary
Samuel Michael Goodloe, Sr. of Rockford departed this earthly life August 20, 2018 in his home. He was born May 17, 1947 in Nashville, TN the son of Paul and Alma Goodloe. Samuel lived in Rockford since 1955 coming from Tennessee. He married the former Carolyn Williams June 25, 1966 in Rockford. Samuel was employed many years by Quaker Oats, later to work at the Rockford Park District in Landscaping many years before retiring. He was a member of New Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, serving in the Choir and as a musician. Samuel was a member of many local bands, including The Backsliders and Street People. He attended Auburn High School. Samuel leaves to cherish many loving memories, his devoted wife, Carolyn; two sons, Eric (Tonia) and Samuel Michael (Rosina) Goodloe; six grandchildren; two brothers; Robert (Fannie) and Walter Goodloe; a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Services 11:00 a.m. will be held Thursday, August 30, 2018 at St Luke M.B. Church 2919 19th Street. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery.Visitation 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral 200 N. Johnston Avenue.

My condolences to the Goodloe family. I had the pleasure of taking care of Sam a few different times. The staff always had a lot of fun with Sam, he was the life of the party even when he didn't feel well. Sam touched my heart and I will always hold a special place for him and all the smiles.
