SPRINGFIELD - Edward H. McDaniel III, 59, died Aug. 6, 2008, at Springfield Hospital.
He was born Nov. 24, 1948, in Ironton, Mo., the son of Edward H. and Almedia J. (Bullinger) McDaniel.
He graduated from Hickman High School in Columbia, Mo., and attended Columbia College for a time.
Mr. McDaniel was drafted to play on the St. Louis Cardinals minor league team but was drafted into the U.S. Army before he was able to play.
He worked as a carpenter, most recently for Breadloaf Corp. in Middlebury.
He was married to Lyn Hughes Dec. 31, 1988.
Mr. McDaniel was a past member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion in White River Junction.
He enjoyed karaoke and won several karaoke competitions. He also enjoyed photography, billiards, horseshoes, working on his pool and watching sports, especially NASCAR. He was a Dale Earnhardt fan.
Survivors include his mother of Columbia, Mo.; his wife of Springfield; two sons, Bradley McDaniel of Oklahoma and Robert Marsh of White River Junction; two daughters, Kari Marsh of White River Junction and Fawn McDaniel of Tulsa, Okla.; five grandchildren; a brother, Mitchell McDaniel, and a sister, Nancy McDaniel, both of Columbia, Mo.; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father and a daughter, Brandi Lawrence.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at Greater Hartford United Church of Christ in Hartford, followed by burial in Hartford Cemetery.
