George Sumner Obituary
He was born April 8, 1940, in Castleton, the son of George and Madeline (LaRose) Sumner.
Mr. Sumner was employed as a roller operator for Pike Industries for 40 years retiring in 2010.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Survivors include a daughter, Valerie Sumner of Rutland; his four sons George A. Sumner III of Rutland, Kelton Sumner of Ira, Shawn Sumner and Todd Sumner, both of Castleton; two sisters Carrie Hibbard of Rutland and Janice Stevens of Brandon; three brothers Richard Sumner of Rutland, Peter Sumner of West Rutland and Gene Sumner of Castleton; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Guynth Sumner, on Oct. 12, 2011; two sisters Verge Walters and Goldie Sumner; three brothers Bill Sumner, David Sumner and Louis LaRose.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2015, at Durfee Funeral Home, 119 North Main St., Fair Haven.
Burial will be at a later date at Hillside Cemetery, Castleton.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2015, at Durfee Funeral Home.
