Julia Stickney Obituary

HYDEVILLE - Julia S. Stickney, 88, a longtime resident of Hydeville, died Friday morning peacefully at her residence.

She was born on October 30, 1924, in North Poultney, the daughter of William and Sophie (Mazur) Frazier.

Mrs. Stickney grew up in North Poultney and graduated from the Poultney High School.

One of the things mom and dad cherished most in life besides their children was what they called "Their little piece of heaven" where they have lived on the lake since they were married in 1953. She was well known for her hospitality and always made people feel welcome at her home.

She was a woman of great faith and was forever thanking God for everything. She was a member of the St. John The Baptist Church in Castleton, were she served as a Eucharistic minister, on the flower committee. She was forever bringing flowers to the church.

Mrs. Stickney loved nature, being outdoors, gardening, flowers and most of all spending time with her family.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Pamela Stickney of Hydeville and Mary Ann Stickney of North Poultney, 2 sons, James D. Stickney of Annapolis, MD and William L. Stickney and his wife Tosh of Fair Haven, 2 granddaughters, Ashley Eden Sequin of Rutland and Katie Marie Stickney of Fair Haven, several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband William Stickney in 1989, 2 sisters, Mary Starling and Stacia Wilkinson, 8 brothers, Jacob Frazier, Steve Frazier, James Frazier, Michael Frazier, Peter Frazier, William Frazier, Anthony Frazier and John Frazier.

Friends may call on Sunday from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Durfee Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday at the St. John The Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery in Castleton.

Arrangements are by the Durfee Funeral Home, 119 North Main Street, Fair Haven.

Julia came up in my memories today. I stopped and reflected back on our time together I remember reading to Julia and spending time just talking about life. Ill always remember her telling me that she kept her hat on so her feet would stay warm. Thanks for the memories Julia

Pam,Mary,Jim and Bill,soooo sorry to hear of your loss have always meant to stop in to say hello to your mom,she was such a wonderful lady ,i can't help but think whenever i'm by Bomoseen the summer days spent fishing w/ all of you!!!!and who could ever forget the year we had a blizzard for Thanksgiving(but we made it!!)alot of good memories...she's now back w/ your Dad ...though she will never be far from you...your friend patty (sheldrick) townsend

We will always remember Mrs. Stickney, with her wonderful smile, a twinkle in her eyes, a devoted mother, and a woman with tremendous faith. She has given all of us an example of how we should live our lives. She will be missed.
