MIDDLEBURY - Robert T. Alden, 91, died Jan. 8, 2009, at Porter Medical Center.
He was born June 8, 1917, in Newark, N.J., the son of Alanson and Grace (Hunt) Alden.
He was a 1940 graduate of Middlebury College.
Mr. Alden worked as an accountant for the Clark Equipment Co. in Lima, Ohio, for many years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.
He was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Chi Psi Fraternity, the Middlebury College Alumni Association, the Friends of Art and the Sheldon Museum.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Plumer) Alden of Middlebury; three sons, William Alden of Sarasota, Fla., Meigs Alden of South Dennis, Mass., and John Alden of Indianapolis, Ind.; a daughter, Rebecca Alden of West Dennis, Mass.; a stepson, Peter Galligan of West Rutland; two stepdaughters, Sharon Johnson of Cornwall, and Nancy Galligan of Parker, Colo.; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Lewis (Baker) Alden in 1979; a sister and a brother.
The funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Middlebury.
The Rev. Terrance Gleason will officiate.
Burial will take place at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home.
