Samuel Pelkey Obituary
He was born May 28, 1996, in Rutland, the son of Daniel and Cindy (Lacroix) Pelkey.
Sam was going to be a sophomore at Mill River Union High School where he was very active in sports. He had just made the varsity soccer team and was a member of the junior varsity basketball team.
He also played baseball and was a member of the 2011 Rutland County Junior Babe Ruth Champion Baseball team from Mill River.
Sam enjoyed snowboarding and was an avid fan of the Patriots and Yankees.
Survivors include his parents, Daniel and Cindy Pelkey, and a brother, Ben Pelkey, all of Wallingford; maternal grandparents, Paul and Claire Daly of Clarendon and Robert and Betty Lacroix of Rutland; paternal grandparents, Steve Pelkey of Proctor and Janet Rollins of Rutland; several aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
He loved his dogs, Abby and Reese, who were his best buddies.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, 8 Court St. in Rutland.
Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Samuel L. Pelkey Memorial and Scholarship Fund, in care of Aldous Funeral Home, 44 North Main St., Rutland, VT 05701.
Arrangements are by the Aldous Funeral Home.

Mill River is nowhere near as fun as it is with you there, and I don't even want to think about how lame it will be when baseball season comes around. Sam, you were an amazing person, with a beautiful personality and a greater sense of humor than anyone I have ever met. You are loved by everyone, including your J-V baseball team, your summer league team, your Varsity soccer team, the football team, your family, and your friends. You are missed by all of them, too. I have played sports with you growing up, and I enjoyed getting to know you over the years, and getting to know you and get along so well with you the past spring in J-V baseball. I remember all of the funny little quotes that we would always say to each other, to get each other laughing, just to be silly, or if we were upset because of a result of a game. Every time I hear or think of center field, i think of you, and it will remain that way the rest of my life. You knew how to make people smile, and that is one of the greatest things anyone can do. Sam, this is a tragedy, and everyone wishes you were still here. I wish your family the best of luck and all of my love, along with my family's love. I love you, buddy, you will never be forgotten.
