Anthony Geremia Obituary


GEREMIA, Anthony Edward
In Sacramento, on June 2, 2005. A native Sacramentan, Anthony was born on February 18, 1930 to Frank and Anna (Noscone) Geremia. He was co-owner of Geremia Pools for 53 years. The sixth of seven children, he is survived by his brother Frank Geremia Jr., and was preceded in death by his other siblings - his brothers; Eugene and Robert Geremia, and his sisters; Helen Pesce, Frances Gianonni and Norma Puliz. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 48 years, Beverly (Hurley) Geremia and his children; Philip (Lisa), Peter (Janet), Anne Sadler (Scott) and Molly Wiese (Mark). He was the proud grandfather of Emily and Kate Geremia, Anthony and Daniel Geremia, Jane Sadler, and Frances, John and Henry Wiese. He also took great pride in being an uncle to his 22 nieces and nephews. He graduated from C.K. McClatchy in 1948, and attended University of Oregon and graduated College of Pacific (now University of Pacific) in 1952, where he played quarterback on the football team. He joined the family business, which his father founded in 1922. He and his brothers expanded the business, now led by the 3rd & 4th generation of family members. He was a devout Catholic and served on the Board of Grace Day Home, the Sacred Heart School Foundation and Committee for Renewal of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. He loved sports, enjoyed playing tennis at Sutter Lawn Tennis Club, where he twice served as President. He played golf at Del Paso Country Club where he was President in 1995. He was also a Past President of the Grandfather's Club. Friends are welcome to attend a Rosary at Sacred Heart Church 1040 39th St., on Monday (6/6) night at 7pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered for the repose of his soul on Tuesday morning at 10:00am, also at Sacred Heart Church. Geremia Pools will be closed on Tuesday, June 7th, due to the service. Interment will be private. Remembrances in his honor may be made to the Sacred Heart School Foundation, 3933 I St., Sac., CA 95816, the Sacramento Food Bank, 3333 3rd Ave., Sac., CA 95817 or to a charity of choice. W.F. Gormley & Sons, Funeral directors.
