Celia Knorr-Wade Obituary

KNORR-WADE, Celia Elizabeth
Surviving a severe stroke in June 2003, leaving her paralyzed, she demonstrated great strength and courage with her disability. Never ever a complaint and always a thank you to those by her side. It was only the last few days of her wonderful life that she hesitated to leave us behind and go with guiding angels to heaven.

Born the fourth of six children in Colorado and named Celia Elizabeth Crawford. In 1940, she moved to California with her first born daughter, Yvonne Ann Surmont.

She worked more than 27 years at the California Almond Growers as a seasonal employee so she could be home in the summer with her children. She proudly wore Badge #216. In the early 60's, her children have fond memories of finding handfuls of almonds in her apron pockets.

More recently she worked for 18 months on a cookbook of her recipe collection. Her book was published and titled "Morning Glory-Evening Grace". Celia presented her beautiful book on Mother's Day this year to her children and loved ones.

She is survived by her sister Maxine Jason and her special friend Larry Huerta. Larry and Celia shared lunch nearly every day and had great fun coaching the Sacramento Kings.

She leaves her children; Yvonne married to Gerald Derr, and daughter Valerie Catherine Knorr, her twin sons, Michael Jacob Knorr, married to Vivian and Dale Jacob Knorr married to LaJuan. She was a very proud grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.

Celia also leaves her loving assistants and the special friendship of Susi DeStefani and Nedi Collantes. They gave her professional personal care with dignity beyond expectation with trust and confidence. She loved them like her own children.

The family especially thanks Dr. Mihir Amin, Kaiser Permanente Adult Medicine. Forever thankful for the care and love from Vitas Innovative Hospice Care staff. Celia's nurse Libby and our Chaplain Christine brought love, understanding and their hearts to our home on every visit.

At her request there will be no services. At a later date, with a full moon, her ashes will rest with her husband of 42 years, Sid Knorr, on Eagles Peak in Likely, CA.

In the true spirit of Celia's life she would like that you consider a random act of kindness or a pay forward deed and loving gesture to another person.

And to remember, perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost one pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.

She was God's Morning Glory on December 29, 1921 and the Angels Evening Grace on October 4, 2007. Celia is surely dancing in heavens garden with the angels this day.

Amen

Celia was a great lady ... Strong and full of energy! I'm sure she's loving all the fact that she has all the strength and energy back again, and she's probably up to something with my Mum right about now! :) Can't keep a good woman down! (or two!)

Know that she is well and will be with you again.

Love and hugs,
Kristy :)

Dear Family and Friends, it was a 4 weeks ago yesterday (October 4th) that our sweet mother went to heaven. I feel so very lost and find myself still waking to look in on her. Caring for her was the single greatest blessing in my life...and I am certain it has changed me forever. God Bless, Valerie

Valerie,

My sincere condolences to you and your family on the loss of your mom. It's been many years since I last saw you. We worked together at FFF&B back in the early 90's. I was just a kid, and you were always so kind to me. When I saw the name in the obituary, I knew immediately who this was, and so I wanted to express my condolences to you. Sincerely,

To the Knorr family,
I am so fortunate to have known Celia, she was a wonderful person. Always greeted you with a smile, and you knew you were always welcomed at her door. I have a lot of found memories of her. She was a great cook, and her Lady fingers, they were the best. I would get so excited when she would call to tell me she was getting ready to make them. I am so sad that this planet has lost a kind and loving human being. I think if everyone could have met her, there might just be a little bit more kindness in the world. My condolences to the Knorr family, you were very blessed to have had a mother like Celia.

Dear Family and Friends, it was too late Friday to make corrections in the newspaper notice of our mother, Celia Knorr-Wade's death.

It should have read leaves her daughter Y. Elizabeth married to Gerald Derr and;

Prior to her stroke she shared a 10 year happy marriage to Henry Wade. They resided in Stonegate Mobile Home Park and shared many happy events and great vacations together. Henry joined the angels in July 2002.

In her loving spirit, Amen

What beautiful words about lovely Celia. I was fortunate enough to speak with her a few times, and felt as though I knew her. And what a blessed daugher Valerie was. Always there.
