Dennis Vinsant

1944 - 2025

Retired Sacramento Police Detective, Dennis Vinsant, passed away on August 12, 2025, at the age of 80, after a battle with cancer. Preceded in death by father and mother, Everett and Betty Vinsant, brothers, Jack, Jerry, Abe, and sister Debbie. He was born in Fort Dodge, IA, and joined the Air Force when he was 17. At the age of 18, he moved to California and was stationed at Beale Air Force Base. It was during this time that he met his beloved wife of 52 years, Brenda Vinsant, who passed away in 2018. He later married Sherri Lamb in 2023. Greatly missed by wife, Sherri, and his children: Brian (Debbie), Bill (Lisa), Nicole (Tim), and daughter Denise. Forever remembered by 9 grandchildren: Cody (Kayla), Molly (Colter), Jacoby (Margaret), Billy, Nina, Denny, Zoe, Grace, Gabriel, and 1 great-grandson, Parker. After retiring from the Sacramento Police Department, Dennis enjoyed working out, golfing, playing poker, and going to the casino. He enjoyed spending time with his family, including his dog, Stash. He will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at East Lawn Sierra Hills, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento, CA 95841. Reception following at First Baptist Church located at 4401 San Juan Ave., Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
