Elsie Martha Player
October 31, 1928 - June 2, 2025
Rancho Cordova, California - Elsie Martha Player (Pramann) was born in Fairhaven, Minnesota, on October 31, 1928, and passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, at the age of 96.
She was one of eight siblings and remained close to her family throughout her life. Of her brothers and sisters, she is survived by her beloved sister, Bernice Zweig, who resides in Roseville, Minnesota.
She is preceded in death by many cherished loved ones: her husband, Norwood (Joe) L. Player, and her son-in-law, David J. Mrizek. "Joe" was the love and guiding light in her 31 years of married life who passed away 43 years ago.
Elsie is survived by her devoted twin daughters, Evon Mrizek and Beth Larson, and son-in-law Steve Larson. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Erin Norris, Dena Yancy, Dane Larson, and Megan Larson. Her legacy also lives on through her great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Gloria, Stephen, Makayla, Macen, Kaiden and a new great-grandchild expected in November 2025.
As a military family we relocated every three years in the US and were based in Germany from 1960-1964. Returning Stateside, Mather Air Force Base, California was home 1964-1967. Later Rancho Cordova became home. Elsie was deeply rooted in her community. She worked as an Office Receptionist for a local Doctor and in the accounting field at McClellan and Mather AFB. She was a longtime member of the Scottish Rite, Garden Club, Military Widows, and the National Health Federation.
A true lover of nature, Elsie loved gardening, watering her multitude of plants, enjoying the sun and outdoors, the banjo band, and square/ballroom dancing. She was a Brownie Leader during our Air Force stay in Germany and a beloved Sunday School teacher during the many years spent at Mather AFB. One of our fondest memories was when the backyard pool became the largest compost pile!
Above all, Elsie was a devout Christian whose faith was central to her life. She was a faithful member of several local churches in the Rancho Cordova community. Her kindness, warmth, grace and unwavering belief in God touched all who knew her.
Elsie lived a long, meaningful life rich in love, faith, and service. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Treasured memories will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A Celebration of her life will be held on July 11, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, CA.
