Frank Anderson Obituary

Frank J. Anderson passed away peacefully April 4, 2017 at the age of 99. After losing his wife of 61 years, Ione, he moved onto his son Gary's property and remained there living with his cat and in his later years watching his hummingbirds dart about outside his window. Frank took on the responsibility of his divorced mother and younger sister at the tender age of 13 and drove them all from Aurora Indiana to Chicago in an old Ford Model A. He never stopped working and literally pulled his family out of poverty and provided a safe haven for them. As he matured his hard work ethics impressed his employers and as one job faded another was always offered. "I never asked anybody for a job. Someone always offered me one." Even in retirement he worked wherever he was needed in Gary's business alongside his two sons. As a widower Pop lived pretty independently, picking up food at his two favorite joints, Jamie's and Freeport Inn, and driving himself well into his 90s. He leaves behind his two sons Dennis (wife Lynda) and Gary (wife Pam) along with his favorite niece and granddaughters, grandsons, great-granddaughters, great-grandsons and even two great-great-grandchildren. Special thanks to his grand-daughter Trisha for all the love and attention she gave Pop at his end and all the support she provided her father. Thanks for the wonderful and caring staff at Vitas Hospice and Briarwood Health Care for Pop's care. And now we hope you will tip Pop's favorite beverage, St. Pauli's Girl, and say "Hurragh, son. Another good job well done."
