Frank DUGGAN Obituary

DUGGAN, Frank

Frank went to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, July 25, 2010, in Sacramento, at 67 years of age. Our beloved Frank was born on June 22, 1943, a native-born ''Sacramentan''. He is survived by his loving wife, Gaye, together in marriage for 44 years; his daughter, Melissa; son-in-law, Jeff Wagnon; granddaughter Sydney Ann; sisters, Barbara Ann Landucci (Roger), The Honorable Alice Duggan Sullivan (Joe), Barbara Dee (Charley); brothers, Robert Duggan (Heather), Jim Duggan; and many nieces and nephews.

Frank was born in Sacramento and was raised in Woodland where he graduated from Woodland High School. Frank attended American River College for two years and transferred to Sacramento State University where he received his Degree. After graduating, Frank served in the National Guard for two years. He received his CPA license and went on to become partner of his own firm. Frank's passion was baseball and he played the game whenever the opportunity came to him. While at American River College and at Sacramento State, he played on the baseball team, as well as playing on a small private league team. However, the greatest joy in his life was coaching his daughter Melissa in softball which he did until she entered high school. Frank was also an avid San Francisco 49er fan and he would dress in all the ''49er gear'' whenever they played. Golf was his other passion and he especially enjoyed playing the courses at the Wailea Country Club while in Maui. Frank was a member of the Arden Arcade Rotary for 25 years. During his service as a Rotarian, Frank served as a volunteer cook at Loaves and Fishes, as well as giving of his time to volunteer as a Bar Manager at the Sacramento Jazz Festival for twenty years.

Frank was a proud man with enormous dignity, integrity, humility, a man of true character with a wonderful sense of humor, a warm smile, a great laugh and a true friend for life. Frank was a quiet man, but when he spoke, everyone listened. He will be remembered with love and will be forever missed.

There will be a celebration of Frank's' life held on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 11:00am at the First Covenant Church, 10933 Progress Court, Rancho Cordova, 95670. In lieu of flowers, a remembrance can be made to the First Covenant Church, Alzheimer's Unit, or to a favorite charity of your choice.

Have many fond memories of Frank from Woodland High School days. Baseball was always his passion...passed up the Senior Prom for a baseball game. A great friend to my entire family.

My wife Barda and I clearly remember our years as fellow Rotarians in Arden Arcade Rotary with Frank. He was an outstanding Rotarian dedicated to provideing leadership to our club. He participated in all the Club activites and volunteered to take responsibility for many of them. Frank was a valued friend and we are both greatly saddened by his passing.

Frank, words cannot express the admiration I have for you. Thank you for enriching my life during the time we knew each other. I will never forget the good times we had, the long talks and good hard laughs by your pool. You were an honorable man that I looked up to. I am proud to forever call you my friend. Thanks for everything!

Dear Frankie Duggan family: I was very sorry to read about Frank's passing. We were old high school classmates in Woodland, "Class of 61". I remember Frank as always being friendly to everyone and his big grin. I ran into Frank at a conference about 12 years ago, he looked just the same only "a little older", just like the rest of us. He was so surprised that I recognized him. We had a great visit talking about "the good ole days" at WHS. He will be missed very much at our "50th reunion next year".
