Gus Paulos Obituary

PAULOS, Dr. Gus A.
Born on December 21, 1933, to Charles and Anna Paulos, Tooele, UT. Gus went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 27, 2007. He was a loving husband and beloved father, and is survived by Esther, his wife of 51 years, and children Dina, Katina and James, as well as his brothers Ernest, John and William and numerous nieces and nephews; his parents and his brother James preceded him in death. Gus graduated from the University of Utah in 1958, Georgetown University School of Dentistry, Washington D.C. in 1962, and served in the Army Dental Corps at Fort Ord, CA, from 1962-65, attaining the rank of Captain. In 1965, Gus and Esther made their home in Sacramento. Throughout Gus's career, he has opened and operated several dental practices, often directing his efforts towards providing care for underprivileged patients. Gus was a devoted family man and a friend to many. For all who knew him, his kind smile and distinguished sense of humor will greatly be missed. Friends are welcome to attend his visitation Saturday, Feb. 3, at 9:00 AM, followed by a Memorial Service at 10:00 AM at East Lawn Memorial Park, 43rd St. & Folsom Blvd. The family has requested in lieu of flowers that any remembrances be sent to: Greeks for Christ, Intl. P.O. Box 6536, Oakland, CA 94603. Arrangements entrusted to NICOLETTI, CULJIS & HERBERGER FUNERAL HOME.

Dr. Paulos was my dentist and also gave me my first job when I graduated college as a Certified Dental Assistant. I worked for him for 4 years and greatly admired him as a dentist and a very caring man. I only learned last night (6/14) of his passing and wanted to express my sympathy to all of his family. He will be greatly missed.

Esther, Dina, Katie and Jimmy...so many fond memories of your dad. What a great guy who made us all laugh! And going to the dentist wasn't so bad!! We will always think of him with a smile!

Dear Esther, Dina, Katie and Jimmy,
I was saddened to hear of Koumbaro Gus' passing...knowing you will all miss him in your lives. However, I feel completely at peace with knowing he is with our Lord now and that your faith and love will carry you through his passing...and through your life here until we all meet again. My memories are filled with love and happiness...and thoughts of Gus' great sense of humor and caring when we would visit with you. I miss all of you and wish so that we were all closer together. Hopefully a trip to Ohio..California...or Utah will be in our near futures. May God's love be with all of you, Love, Pam (Nouna!)
