Kevin Schmitt Obituary
Kevin M. Schmitt, 24, of Dayton, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 26, 2012, in Lafayette. He was born February 16, 1988, in Chicago, and he and his family moved to the Greater Lafayette area in 1989. Kevin graduated in 2006 from McCutcheon High School and went on to become a welder, working at various manufacturing plants in the area. He played bass guitar and loved music, supporting the Chicago Blackhawks hockey team and spending time with his family and friends.
Kevin is survived by his mother, Mari-Ellyn Brock of Dayton; his father, Kevin P. Schmitt of Munster; his beloved daughter, Logan Tressa Schmitt of Lafayette; a sister, Lisa Marie Schmitt of Lafayette; a nephew, Aidan Welcher; his two grandmothers, Michaeline Naujokaitis of Killeen, Texas, and Margaret Morefield of Lansing, Ill.; and the mother of his daughter, Destiny Sewell of Lafayette. Kevin was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Al Naujokaitis and William Schmitt.
Visitation 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at Simplicity Funeral Care, 1608 Schuyler Ave. with the service at 2 p.m., Pastor Owen Mason and Pastor Scott Lehr officiating. Kevin...nobody loves you the way I do. My world was changed forever the day you came into my life & it crashed down around me the day you left. There are absolutely no words to describe the pain in my heart or just how much I miss you. Rest in peace my son.... I'll see you again someday.

RIP Kevin, I miss you terribly. I still remember the first time we met at Steak N Shake. We became friends instantly, and every Thursday after that you would always come by to see me with your friend Ronnie. You were the only person who would introduce me as JLO to any of your friends. We had so much in common, and were great friends. I'm so sorry the way things ended between us. You, your daughter Logan, and your family always be in my prayers. I know you'll watch over us all.

though I never met Kevin, I knew his mother, Mari, in high school. While I don't know the circumstances of Kevin's passing, my wife's and my prayers are with Mari and her family.

Kevin I still can't believe your gone. I do have closure knowing you and Nate are up there holding things down for us all.
