Lillian WEBBER Obituary

WEBBER, Lillian E.
October 28, 1933 - June 14, 2010
Born in San Francisco, Lillian attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she met Herb, her husband of 45 years, through the hiking club. She was an avid hiker, logging 10,800 kilometers in 36 years of volksmarching in the US and Europe, as well as countless more hiking in the Sierras with her family and friends. She also loved her garden, where she fought a constant battle with the deer. She particularly loved her irises, and fortunately the deer did not. She is survived by Herb, her sister Jean Searle, sons Herb and John, granddaughters Camille Webber, Catherine Webber, Jessica DeVries, and Lacy Lograsso, and great grandchildren Daylee Lograsso, Francesca Lograsso, and Pete Lograsso. She will be missed by all.

Dear Herb,

It was just a year ago we got to walk with Lillian and you at the tunnel walks. It was so special and we felt fortunate to walk with Lillian as we knew she had been sick. What a lovely lady! We had such fun walking through the tunnels and going down to the petroglyphs. We hope your walking friends will comfort you during this time of grief. Martha & Ronnie Morris,

Dear Herb and Family

I was saddened to hear about Lillian's passing. I remember our Volksmarch days fondly. I guess the best memory was Fallen Leaf Lake. You two were quite an inspiration to me. I am probably the age now that Lillian was when I first met her. I hope I can remain as vital as she was. My regards and sympathy to you and yours. Pat Ferguson

Lillian was an inspiration to me; quiet in her demeanor and graceful when she walked and yet she had a drive and perseverance to her that was unbelievable. She was passionate about walking and when she found it difficult to finish the 10K routes in our volkswalks, she pressed forward and did the 5K route with a smile. She was just happy and peace to be outside walking. I was honored to have known Lillian and she will always be remembered by those who knew her. Lovingly, Barbara Nuss from the Sacramento Walking Sticks
