Folsom, California - Paula Adams Mitchell, beloved Mother and Grandmother, passed away on October 6, 2022 at her home in Folsom, California. She was 76 years old.
Paula loved helping others, she was born Paula Marie Adams in 1946 in Wichita Kansas, to parents Marceline and Louis Adams. She learned Japanese as a child and traveled the world with her parents and two brothers Steve and Robert Adams as her father was in the military. Her family eventually moved to Sacramento, CA where she attended Mira Loma High School. She also attended Sacramento State University and eventually graduated from Saint Mary's University in Moraga, CA.
She had three children Staci, Lori, and Scott Mitchell and dedicated most of her life to raising them. She taught them to work hard and love big. Paula had an infectious laugh and her smile could light up a room. She was strong, resilient, and always spoke her mind.
Later in life she went back to school and obtained her Masters in Counseling Psychology and became a Marriage and Family Therapist. She worked for the County of Sacramento for many years helping at-risk children and youth.
She was happily married to Sharon Rose Blood for many years who passed on July 22, 2022. Sharon and Paula spent many wonderful times together. They enjoyed the company of friends and family, fun card games, and studied native american traditions. They enjoyed family gatherings, vacations, and particularly enjoyed spending time with their granddaughters Marceline and Lori MacFarland, and Mollie and Ellie Brownlee who were the light of her life.
Paula had a large extensive family located in California, Washington, Texas, and Kansas with many aunts, cousins, and wonderful relatives. She was blessed to have four nieces and nephews Danny, Kevin, Megan, and Nicole that she adored along with their children Amelia, Jackie, and Frank.
Paula died peacefully in her sleep near her family and friends and with her loving dog Sasha. In place of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to LGBTQ community centers and the SPCA.
A celebration of life service will be held on October 14th at 3:00 PM at Unity Church of Sacramento, 9249 Folsom Blvd in Sacramento." Please join us to remember her amazing heart and her life filled with love.
