Peggy Rackelmann

September 1, 1933 - July 12, 2024

Sacramento, California - Peggy Rackelmann, 90, passed away peacefully on July 12th, 2024 after a long bout with skin cancer, surrounded by her loving husband and good friends.

Peggy was born in 1933 to Edson and Endine Scott in Dallas Center, Iowa. She earned a BS in Dietetics from Iowa State University in 1955, and worked as a therapeutic dietitian at Iowa Lutheran and Sacramento County Hospitals. After raising two children, she did non-profit and volunteer work.

Peggy will be remembered for her strong commitment to her communities of friends and neighbors and her love of family who brought her great joy. In retirement she enjoyed grandkids, friends, camping, tennis, the beach house, and chocolate!

She is survived by her husband George Rackelmann, sister Judy Grimes, sons Joe (Noelani) and Alan (Susie), grandchildren Sonia (Jason), Scott (Kaila), Tyler and Jay, and great-grandchildren Temperance and Tenison.

Peggy and George were the perfect neighbors when we moved into our first (and only) home next door 30 years ago. We've been so fortunate to have been friends and neighbors since. We were so surprised and sorry to learn of her death. Our hearts and prayers are with Joe and Alan and families.
