Pericles Georgallis Obituary

Pericles "Perry" Georgallis
March 13, 1932 - November 17, 2022
Sacramento, California - First "open house" with life began on March 13,1932 with "close of escrow" on November 17, 2022. Perry was preceded in death by his wife Katherine (Kay) and parents John and Effie Georgallis. He is survived by his loving daughter, Joann, loving son-in-law, Derwin Clarke, and adoring friend, Jeanine Boyers.
Born in San Francisco, CA, 19-year-old Perry moved to Sacramento in 1951 when he married Kay Thompson (Athanasopoulos). He began his residential real estate career with Milano Realty in 1957 after delivering Falstaff beer to all of the Greek restaurants on skid row, nka Old Sacramento. For numerous consecutive years, he earned either the "Mr. Lister" award (for most listings) or "Mr. Multiple" title (for most sales volume) and was repeatedly recognized for multi-million-dollar sales from the Sacramento Board of Realtors, nka Sacramento Association of Realtors (SAR) and was a lifetime member of the SAR Masters Club. Known as the "King of River Park," Perry sold almost every home in the River Park area if not once, but twice, to and for young couples, parents, grandparents, and other family members.
In 1974, he decided it was his turn to run the show. Hence, the trio of GBC Realtors was formed, comprised of 2 Greeks (Perry and Sophie Ciavarella) and an Italian (Frank Bianchini). He then associated with Lyon Real Estate in 2008 after selling the GBC office building which is now home to Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary.
As chairman of the SAR scholarship committee for several years, he helped transform this program into awarding over $600,000 in scholarships to more than 600 high school students during the past 20 years. Perry served unselfishly of himself in his church and other charitable organizations as past president of the Parish Council, member of the first board of St. Nicholas Ranch, Food Festival chair and Lions Club. He also served in the U.S. Air Force, was a member of Shriner's International, and 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
An impeccable dresser, Perry was the "GQ" of octogenarians. His energetic, vibrant personality electrified any room he entered. Perry's magnetic enthusiasm, charm and positive attitude immediately captured the love of those who were fortunate to meet him. He was especially proud of his Greek heritage and that his name was associated with the "Golden Age" of Pericles!
His daughter will always remember him stating, "Anything you dare dream of you can accomplish, provided you have a purpose." Indeed, Perry was testament to a purposeful life.
We express our deepest gratitude to the Oakmont of East Sacramento caregivers and staff who provided their unselfish, loving and devoted care during Perry's 1-year residency.
Friends and family are invited to attend the Trisagion Service on Tuesday, November 29 at 6:00 p.m. and funeral services on Wednesday, November 30 at 12:00 p.m. at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 614 Alhambra Blvd., Sacramento. Interment at East Lawn Cemetery. Dear Joann, Liz and I are saddened to learn of your dad's passing. I remember him knocking on the door of our house on C Street when I was a kid and then of course I went to work for Perry, Frank, and Sophie in 1979. All of us who knew him will miss him greatly. I'm sure all of us have at least one great Perry story to remember. He will be missed.

Growing up across the street from the Milano and Thompson families, we became good friends, and had wonderful times as neighbors. Kuma Thompson made and shared the best Phoeniki cookies, and Katherine Georgallis was my brother Peter's Godmother. I remember Perry as truly a gentleman, and always willing to share his time. Sincere condolences to daughter Joann and family.

I was fortunate enough to meet Perry through our church when I moved to Sacramento about 12 years ago. He was the kindest most welcoming human I have met and his charm and smile were infectious. He was truly a good man and will be missed by all. My sincerest condolences to his daughter and family.

One thing that helped Perry become the King of River Park was he would walk the neighborhood going door after door to get his listings. Now, how many Realtors do that?

Perry was indeed a once in a blue moon kind of a guy; he was so enthusiastic, so persistent re his goals ,and So very
likable! He sold one of our homes & then we were in River Park with no desire to sell again for a Long, long time. RIP Perry.

I was fortunate to rent a house from Perry and Kay from 2000-2006 in East Sac. He was so proud, as an owner, where his parents used to live. He was a kind man that always delivered the cherished Santa Claus figures during the Christmas. They joined us for dinners on several occasions, they were like family to us. He was always surprised by the amount of creative gardening I did, supplying them with fresh vegetables. They were one of kind couple who are together again.
